There are some universal truths about areas used as infirmaries: they tend to be white; smell like disinfectant; involve lots of waiting; bad food; and we mentioned lots of waiting, right?

Fortunately, Luke gets a room to himself. And by 'to himself', the narration at the moment means 'Luke and his shadow'.

Who did, in fact, get a cup of tea. Thank you, unnamed UNIT person.

Luke did not get a cup of tea. You'd think it would help with detox, but no one thought of it.

He'll ping them later for a cuppa tea for Luke. Right now he's just holding and contemplating it for a moment before looking around the infirmary.

"Nosocomephobia. They remind people of sickness and injuries."

He's trying to figure out how to tactfully ask Tyler how he is at hitting on anything that moves.

"Actually I think it's more like I got sick of getting sent here every afternoon my first year of school..." Another glance around before dipping his finger into the teacup and running his finger on the rim to make it ring. "Thank the Allspark that this place has maskable audio security..."

Few seconds pass.

"Luke? What the hell is a Time Agent?"

"...They're from the 51st century. We don't know very much about them."

From the way he sounds, there's something they do know that Luke has not said.

"So what do you know about them? Seeing as I've already impersonated one legal official, admittedly half-assedly, I think I need some more info to properly impersonate another."

"Luke, considering they've drawn my blood, asked for a fecal sample, and wanted to take the sample box," Tyler says flatly. "We need to get our stories straight, before I end up on a dessection table."

"Right." Ignore the fire-engine red face. "I can do that. What reason was I on that ship?"

"Accident?"

He is a brilliant bluffer, yupyup.

"And getting the aliens to run off with their tentacles tucked in?" Tyler replies calmly. "I somehow doubt Time Agents frighten aliens as much as.."

Thoughtful pause.

"Those aliens asked if I was a part of the Shadow Proclamation. Who are they exactly?"

"It's a galactic policing force."

"A very scary one." Good. "If we go with the accident bluff, what kind of accident would it likely have been?"

"...I'm not sure," he says. "Mr. Smith doesn't have very much information on Time Agents, and neither does UNIT. Torchwood would- Captain Jack, anyway- but he doesn't talk about it, and neither does the Doctor."

Beat.

"There's not very much information on their time travel technology, but they have been known to fail."

"Okay, so only two people really know who Time Agents are." That will make things somewhat easier. "Alright. Do either The Doctor, or Captain Jack come here that often?"

"The Doctor turns up every now and then. Captain Jack works at Torchwood, but he owes me a favour, so I can ask him to vouch for you if anyone checks with him."

DON'T ASK WHAT HE DID TO EARN THE FAVOUR.

REALLY, JUST DON'T.

...Yeah. Given the 'flirt with anything that moves' combined Luke's expression means Tyler is so not asking.

"Right. Here's what I think my story is." Tyler holds up a hand, with Luke's memory it's not likely either are going to forget it.

"I was being transported from another time with some scientific samples of an odd species of mushroom. Something, damned if I know what, buggered up my time transport and I found myself in something was was definitely earth and definitely non-terranan in design. I started poking around, found you escaping and deciding to help you get out. You hacked the computers so we didn't show up on internal sensors. We ran into the aliens. I hid you somewhere and faced them off." Tyler pauses. This is the part that Luke did not see. "I bluffed and fooled them into thinking I was from this Shadow Proclamation. They took the hint and the bait and returned everything before running like scalded cats."

The inquisition arrives in the form of one Dr. Martha Jones. And by 'inquisition', the narration means 'bedside cheerful inquisitive'. Or possibly 'tea', because she brings some for Luke.

What the hell. She knows the boy.

"Hello," she says as she hands said tea off to Luke, friendly manner firmly in place. "How are things in here?"

"Doing alright, he's quite a bit more talkative now that the sedative is working it's way out..." Tyler replies, smiling cheerfully, with a very light tone.

Okay. How to hit on this woman.

Slightly distracted grin as she checks Luke's vitals.

Teh talkative is distracted by teh tea, kthnx.

"And did Dr. Smith have anything interesting to say?"

"Just some relative information as to the where and the when I've ended up." Tyler smirks taking a careful sip of tea. "It's a bit disorienting to end up on an alien ship when you were supposed to be headed back to work to study something. I'm very glad it was on Earth, though I wasn't too keen on what it was doing on the planet."

"Yeah? Something exciting and new?"
