School was... well, school. Another day packed full with social interaction, social mistakes, and general social confusion. And homework, which he began upon return to Bannerman Road. Given that the weather is on the warm side, he left his window open.

Which is why, in the middle of correcting his math homework*, he is distracted by a Strange and Unusual Sound coming from the yard, and seeks out the nearest parental figure for consultation.

"Mum?"

* The narration would like it known that when it is said, 'correcting his math homework', it is not meant 'correcting his answers'. It is meant 'correcting his math homework'. Problem twelve was fallacious. Thank you.

This is Sarah Jane's surprise face. It looks a lot like her amused face, doesn't it?

"He's been wanting to ever since I first told him about you."

There is laughing, not slapping.

"Come on!" The Doctor grins madly and finds himself reaching for Sarah Jane's hand to lead them both towards the TARDIS.

How strange. Leading the child of one of his companions into danger. Well, he was always a bad influence.

Around the back of the house sits the majestic TARDIS.

"Here we go! Told you I wouldn't be long, TARDIS."

And that just confirms it. She hadn't been imagining the sound of the TARDIS's arrival. Here she is, in Sarah Jane's own backyard, right next to the oak tree she used to play on as a child all those years ago when her aunt had owned the home.

It makes her smile widen.

"Hullo then," she greets the police box. Sarah gives the Doctor's hand a squeeze. She had always hoped that Luke would get to see this.

At current, Luke is rather reminiscent of a kid who's just been led to the largest candy store ever. There's awe, and excitement, and a little bit of impatience to be told to have at.

"Can we go in?"
